He gave his father, Joseph Fisher of Kibworth Harcourt, later amended to his mother Mrs. Fanny Fisher of Albert Street, Kibworth Harcourt, Leicestershire as his next of kin. His medical examination recorded that he was 5 foot 9 inches in height and he had a chest measurement of between 36 and 38 inches. His vision was recorded as 6/6 and his physical development was described as good. He was pronounced fit for the Territorial Force on the 17th November 1914 in Coventry, Warwickshire. A short note appears in his record that gives the following information:- 19/4/18, Above appears on nominal roll of personnel of 240th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery as having transferred to Italy from France 21/11/17. According to my records he was transferred to 636 (HS) Employ Company 30/8/17. Has he been re-transferred to the Royal Field Artillery. A summary of his service records: Home Service, 17/11/14 – 29/3/15, 133 days. British Expeditionary Force, France, 29/3/15 – 23/11/15, 239 days. Home Service, 24/11/15 – 18/3/16, 115 days. Charles’s surviving service documents are in a very poor condition, only three pages being available, and much of the finer detail relating to the period of time that he spent in the Army, is either illegible or missing, hence the sparse overall description of his military and personal family history.
