He was the son of Samuel Wilbur, a boot trade worker, born 1863 in Hinckley, Leicestershire and his wife Maria Wilbur (nee Geary), born 1864 in Hinckley. Thomas, a schoolboy, was born in the second quarter of 1883 in Hinckley, his siblings were, Sarah, a schoolgirl, born 1885, Rose, born 1886, Arthur, born 1886 and Samuel, born 1890, all his siblings were born in Hinckley, also residing in the family home were Thomas’s maternal Aunt, Emma Geary, born 1854 and Uncle, Charles Geary, a shoe trade worker, born 1872, the latter two relatives were both born in Hinckley, in April 1891 the family home was at Manor Street, Hinckley. In March 1901 Thomas was employed as a trimmer and was residing in the family home at 7, Greens Yard, Hinckley, together with his father, a boot trade riveter, his mother and siblings, Sarah, a hosiery trade worker, Rose, a hosiery trade linker, George, born 1893, Ellen, born 1896, Arthur, born 1898 and Samuel, born 1900, the latter four siblings were all born in Hinckley. In April 1911 Thomas was absent from the family home at 35, Regent Street, Hinckley, residing there was his father, a hosiery trade worker, his mother and siblings, George, a hose trimmer, Nellie, a hose seamstress, Arthur, a shirt trimmer, Samuel, a schoolboy, Annie, a schoolgirl, born 1903 and James, a schoolboy, born 1908, the latter two siblings were both born in Hinckley, also residing in the family home was Thomas’s married sister, Rose Dowell, a hose linker and her husband Robert Dowell, a cardboard box maker, born 1888 in Hinckley and their daughter, Lillian Dowell, born 1909 in Hinckley and Thomas’s widowed paternal Grandmother, Sarah Wilbur, born 1833 in Hinckley, Thomas was employed as a hosiery trimmer and was residing at Brockley Lane, Barwell, Leicestershire, together with his wife, Annie Elizabeth Wilbur (nee Grewcock, married in the 2nd quarter of 1906 in the Hinckley, Leicestershire district), born 1878 in Barwell, and their daughter Maud, born 1909 in Barwell, Thomas and Annie had another child, Arthur, born 1912 in Barwell. They later resided at The Three Tuns, Regent Street, Hinckley. Thomas’s widow married John Moore in the 4th quarter of 1918 in Hinckley, they resided at 46, Manor Street, Hinckley. Thomas was officially recorded at birth with the surname spelling Wilebore, however he has also been recorded as Wildbore, Wilebur and most frequently as Wilbur in various official documents. Thomas died in the 46th Casualty Clearing Station, Proven, Belgium from wounds received in action, he was awarded the British War and Victory medals.
