In 1891 the family home was at The Hollow, Cadeby, Leicestershire. In 1911 Thomas was serving as a Private with the 1st Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and was stationed at Malplaquet Barracks, Marlborough Lines, Aldershot, Hampshire.
