He was the son of George Robinson, a general farm labourer, born 1857 in Birmingham, Warwks., and his wife Mary Eliza Robinson (nee Mawby, married 1880), born 1861 in Wolvey, Warwks. Albert was born in 1897 in Burbage, Leics., his siblings were, Ellen, a hosiery trade worker, born 1881 in Sketchley, Leics., Joseph, a shoe trade worker, born 1885, Mary Ann, born 1889, George D., born 1890, Ruth A., born 1892, Arthur, born 1894, William, born 1896 and Lily, born 1899, the latter seven siblings were all born in Burbage, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 9, Sketchley Road, Burbage, Leics. In April 1911 Albert was employed as ahosiery trade machinist and was residing in the family home at 42, Mansion Street, Hinckley, Leics., together with his father, now a quarry worker, his mother and siblings, Joseph, a coal trade labourer, George, a shoe trade clicker, Arthur, a hosiery trade machinist, William a hosiery trade riveter, Lily a schoolgirl and Alfred C., a schoolboy, born 1903 in Burbage, Leics.
On Friday June 11th 1915 The Melton Mowbray Times & Vale of Belvoir Gazette published the following article under the heading. “MELTON AND THE WAR.” – ROLL OF HONOUR. – LEICESTERSHIRE REGIMENT CASUALTIES. – LOCAL TERRITORIAL’S KILLED AND WOUNDED. –

The War Diary for today records. Trenches 14 and 18 relieved by the SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE REGT and trench E.4 by the 5th Battn LINCOLNSHIRE REGT as a result of Divisional Order apportioning a fresh sector of trenches. Battn proceeded back to hutments. Casualties 3 killed and 12 wounded.
