The War Diary entry for the 26th December 1917 records. MOEUVRES LEFT FRONT. Enemy shelled our front line and supports continually from 11.30am to 6.30pm after which it slackened off a little. 2nd SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE REGT relieved by 1st KING’S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS as left Battalions. On relief Battalion moved to shelter in SPOIL HEAP J.35.a. Battalion and Brigade Reserve. Relief complete 8.30pm.
