He was the son of Amos Clarke a shoe trade foreman, born 1862 in Earl Shilton, Leics., and his wife Millicent, born 1860 in Sapcote, Leics. Horace was born in 1897 in Hinckley, Leics., his siblings were, Sidney, born 1889, Percy, born 1891, Florence M. H., born 1893, Elsey, born 1895 and Ethel Edith, born 1900, all his siblings were born in Hinckley, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 8, White Lion Yard, Hinckley, Leics. In April 1911 Horace was employed as a hosiery trade warehouseman and was residing in the family home at 38, Manor Street, Hinckley, Leics., together with his father, now a boot trade clicker, his mother and siblings, Sidney, Percy, Florence Elsey, and Ethel. Horace died from pneumonia.
