He was the son of William Bonnett a sugar boiler, born 1851 in Leicester and his wife Mary A., born 1852 in Nuneaton, Warwks. Horace was born in 1879 in Leicester, his siblings were Amy, born 1872, William E., born 1876, Beatrice, born 1881 and Frank was born in 1883, all his siblings were born in Leicester, in April 1891 the family home was at 123, Charnwood Street, Leicester. In March 1901 Horace was employed as a barman and was residing as a boarder at the Lord Nelson Tavern, 55, Smithford Street, Coventry, Warwks. In April 1911 Horace was employed as an insurance agent and was residing in the family home at 54, Trinity Road, Hinckley, Leics., with his wife of seven years, Charlotte a hose machinist, born 1876 in Hinckley, Leics., and their two daughters, Amy, born 1905 and Olive Winifred, born 1907, both children were born in Hinckley, Leics. His younger brother Frank also fell in action.
