He was the son of William Bonnett a sugar boiler, born 1851 in Leicester and his wife Mary A., born 1852 in Nuneaton, Warwks. Frank was born in 1883 in Leicester, his siblings were Amy, born 1872, William E., born 1876, Beatrice, born 1881 and Horace, born 1879, all his siblings were born in Leicester, in April 1891 the family home was at 123, Charnwood Street, Leicester. In March 1901 Frank was employed as a painter and was residing in the family home at Market Place, Hinckley, Leics., together with his parents and sister Beatrice. In April 1911 Frank was employed as a house painter and was residing in the family home at 8, Manor Street, Hinckley, Leics., together with his wife of 5 years, Clara a hosiery worker, born 1882 in Hinckley, Leics., and their two children, Arthur Wilson Bonnett, born 1909 and Beatrice, born 1910, both children were born in Hinckley, Leics. His elder brother Horace also fell in action.
