He was the son of Arthur Bedford a Hairdresser, born 1866 in Hinckley, Leics. and his wife Mary A., born 1864 in Hinckley, Leics. Arthur William was born in 1890 in Hinckley, Leics., his siblings were Percy, born 1893, Stanley W., born 1896 and Clarence E., born 1900, all his siblings were born in Hinckley, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at The Borough, Hinckley, Leics., this being in the Ecclesiastical Parish of Hinckley, St. Mary. In April 1911 Arthur was employed as a Boot Clicker and was residing in the family home at The Borough, Hinckley, Leics., together with his widowed father and siblings, Percy, Stanley, Clarence and Gladys, born 1902 in Hinckley, Leics.
