He was the son of William Bott a frame work knitter, born 1868 in Long Whatton, Leics., and his wife Annie a hosiery wool seamer, born 1871 in Long Whatton, Leics. Benjamin was born in 1896 in Long Whatton, Leics., his siblings were, George, born 1890, John, born 1891, Lilly, born 1894, Harry, born 1895 and Ethel, born 1897, the latter five siblings were all born in Long Whatton, Leics., Emma, born 1900 in Hathern, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Golden Square, Hathern, Leics. In April 1911 Benjamin was employed as a joiner’s assistant and was residing in the family home at Golden Square, Hathern, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, George, John, Lilly, Ethel, Emma, Laura, born 1903, Isaac, born 1905 and Evelyn, born 1909, the latter three siblings were all born in Long Whatton, Leics.
