Private Butler was the son of Mrs GE Butler of Great Bowden.
His death was reported in the Market Harborough Advertiser on the 22nd September 1944:

'Market Harborough Man Killed'

'News has been received that Pte. Charles Butler of 9, Station Road, Gt. Bowden, has been killed in action with the C.M.F. Pte Butler joined the Army in October 1939 and came through Dunkirk. He has been abroad for three years. Before joining the Army he was employed at Messrs. Looms Ltd, Market Harborough.'
