Military Funeral At Great Bowden'
'Full military honours were accorded at the funeral at Great Bowden on Thursday of last week of Mr Michael George Berry, younger son of Mr and Mrs J G Berry at the Laurels, Great Bowden, who died the previous Sunday while serving with HM Forces in England. The coffin was draped in the Union Jack and a bugler sounded the Last Post and Reveille over the grave. A firing party was in attendance.

Mr Michael Berry was on the staff of the Midland Bank in Market Harborough. He was a former pupil of the Market Harborough County Grammar School and was a member of the Old Grammarians Association. When war began he was in the Territorial Army and during his short period of service had made remarkable progress. Recently he was offered a commission but declined to take it and was Acting Sergeant Major. His superior officers described him in letters to his parents as a valuable soldier. They also spoke of his popularity in the Army'.
