The War Diary for today records. CAMBRIN RIGHT. At 7.30am enemy’s aeroplane flying very low brought down two observation balloons (BETHUNE and BEUVRY) and managed to escape back across our lines without being hit. At 9.00am enemy shelled Battn HQ with 5.9 high explosive and managed to obtain a direct hit on the orderly room breaking in the west of the staircase. Fortunately no serious damage done. Transport had unpleasant journey but managed to bring rations without any casualties. At 10.00am D Coy (BROOKE) relieved by B Coy (TOMSON) in the left sector went into CENTRAL KEEP and FACTORY dug outs. A Coy (PETCH) relieved C Coy (MOORE) in right sector and C Coy went into RESERVE LINE.
