He was the son of Job Moore, born 1871 in Enderby, Leicestershire and his wife Laura Elizabeth Moore (nee Orton, married in the 4th quarter of 1891 in the Blaby, Leicestershire district), born 5th May 1867 in Enderby. Joseph was born on the 20th May 1895 in Enderby and was baptised on the 14th July 1895 in the parish church Enderby, in March 1901 he was residing in the family home at 122, Leamington Street, Leicester, together with his widowed mother, a scripture reader. In April 1911 Joseph was employed as an assistant grocer and was residing in the family home in John Street, Enderby, together with his step father, Samuel Coulson, a Griswold frame work knitter, born 1838 in Whetstone, Leicestershire, his mother, Laura Coulson (formerly Moore, married in the 4th quarter of 1906 in the Leicester district) a Griswold frame work knitter and his half blood sibling Samuel Moore Coulson, born 26th May 1908 in Enderby. Joseph married May Jackson in the 3rd quarter of 1917 in the Leicester district, May was born in 1895 in Appleby, Lincolnshire. in the 3rd quarter of 1920 in the Loughborough, Leicestershire district Joseph’s widow married John William Garner, John was born on the 21st February 1894 in Loughborough, they resided at Station House, Belgrave, Leicester. May died in the 3rd quarter of 1937 in the Loughborough district, aged 43. Joseph’s mother married Douglas Perry in the 1st quarter of 1926 in the Leicester district. In 1939 Joseph’s widowed mother, a retired Leicester and District Bible Women’s Missionary, was residing in the family home at 105, Wolverton Road, Leicester. Joseph was awarded the British War and Victory medals.
