He was the son of Joseph Best a Co-operative Store Manager, born 1831 in Earl Shilton, Leics., and his wife Sylvia, born 1840 in Burbage, Leics. Frederick was born in 1880 in Earl Shilton, Leics., his siblings were Sylvia, born 1862 in Rostrevor, Co. Down, Ireland, Jane, born 1865 in Blockley, Worcs., Hippzebah, born 1867, John, born 1872, Tom M., born 1875 and Amy M., born 1879, the latter four siblings were all born in Earl Shilton, Leics., in April 1881 the family home was at High Street, Earl Shilton, Leics. In April 1891 Frederick was a Schoolboy and was residing in the family home at High Street, Earl Shilton, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Sylvia, Hippzebah, John, Thomas and Amy. In March 1901 Frederick was employed as a Boot Clicker and was residing in the family home at 67, High Street, Earl Shilton, Leics., together with his widowed mother and siblings, Hippzebah and Amy. In April 1911 Frederick was employed as a Baker and was residing in the family home at Oxford Street, Earl Shilton, Leics., together with his wife of 9 years, Winifred a Boot Machinist, born 1881 in Barwell, Leics., and their children, Joseph, born 1902 in Barwell, Leics., and Henry, born 1909 in Earl Shilton, Leics.
