He was the son of Henry Bray a boot finisher, born 1870 in Stoke Golding, Leics. Thomas Wilfred was born in 1894 in Earl Shilton, Leics., in March 1901 he was residing together with his widowed father as boarders at 59, Keats Lane, Earl Shilton, Leics. In April 1911 Thomas was employed as a hosiery trimmer and was residing as a boarder at 104, Keats Lane, Earl Shilton, Leics., together with his sister, Florence Agnes Bray, born 1897 in Earl Shilton, Leics. The War Diary entry for this day shows the Battalion position as Fosse Maruel, there was shell fire all day, casualties were one Lance Corporal killed, two Officer’s and two Private’s wounded, it has to be assumed that Thomas was the Lance Corporal who lost his life.
