Source: Michael Doyle Their Name Liveth For Evermore: The Great War Roll of Honour for Leicestershire and Rutland.
He was the son of Charles Henry and Amelia Rimmington. Prior to the war he was a Midland Railway dining car attendant. After enlistment and training he embarked for France in July 1915. He was mortally wounded by a shell which burst in a trench, and he died the next day. His commanding officer wrote:- “I was afraid he had no chance of recovery as his wounds were too severe, but in spite of them he was cheerful, and behaved splendidly like the gallant fellow he was.”
