He was the husband of Alice Kirkby. The War Diary for today records. ANNEQUIN. At 10.15am the two Coy’s of the Battn in ANNEQUIN held Church Parade at the BRIGADE CANTEEN. At 12.00 noon the Battn finished bathing. Captain BLAND arrived to relieve Lt JACK -?- went on leave to ENGLAND. Usual carrying fatigues were found. At 3.00pm three of our planes over ANNEQUIN collided and were wrecked, the pilots being killed. At 4.15 heavy hostile shelling of the village resulted in two men killed and five wounded, three of whom subsequently died. At 6.15pm an evening service held at MAISON ROUGE for forward Coy’s.
