He was the son of John Bonser a plate layer, born 1858 in Wilson, Leics., and his wife Mary, born 1856 in Wilson, Leics. Bertie was a boot trade worker and was born in 1897 in Wilson, Leics., his siblings were Robert, born 1887 and Artie, born 1901, both siblings were born in Wilson, Leics., in April 1911 the family home was at Wilson, Leics. Bertie died as a result of being gassed.
