He was the son of Frederick Bonner a wall paper merchant and house decorator, born 1862 in Leicester and his wife Lucy, born 1863 in Leicester. Frederick was born in 1889 in Leicester, his siblings were Mabel, born 1892 and Harry, born 1893, both siblings were born in Leicester, in March 1901 the family home was at 9, Stretton Road, Leicester. In April 1911 Frederick was employed as a house painter and was residing in the family home at 9, Stretton Road, Leicester together with his parents and siblings, Mabel and Harry.
