He was the son of Richard Alsop a Frame Work Knitter, born in 1858 in Burbage, Leicestershire and his wife Ann, born 1851 in Burbage, Leicestershire. Jack was born in 1891 in Saddington, Leicestershire, his siblings were Rosina, born 1881 in Burbage, Leicestershire. Arthur, born 1884 in Burbage, Leicestershire and Evaline, born 1887 in Burbage, Leicestershire, in 1891 the family home was at Main Street, Saddington, Leicestershire. In March 1901 Jack was residing in the family home at 43, Windsor Street, Burbage, Leicestershire, his father having remarried Mary Jane Kirby who was born in 1863 in Burbage Leicestershire. In April 1911 Jack was employed as a Baker and living in the family home at 25 1/4, Church Street, Burbage, Leicestershire, his step mother now being widowed.
