Source: Michael Doyle Their Name Liveth For Evermore: The Great War Roll of Honour for Leicestershire and Rutland.
He was the youngest son of Mr and Mrs Robert Henry Meadows. Before joining up he was employed as a gardener at the Manor House, Braunston. Upon joining he commenced a period of training at Rugeley, Hornsey and Chelmsford before embarking for France on the 16th January 1918, he was killed during an action on the Somme. In a letter of sympathy to his parents Mr Evan Hanbury, his employer, writes:- “He was a most steady, hard working lad, always anxious to do his best, and it was for this reason that he was so soon sent to fight for his country.”
