He was the son of John Thomas Cooper a tailor, born 1858 in Knightsbridge, Middx., and his wife Mary, born 1858 in Bottesford, Leics. Thomas Harold, a schoolboy was born in 1884 in Bottesford, Leics., his siblings were, John R., a schoolboy, born 1882 and Rowland Taylor, born 1889, both his siblings were born in Bottesford, Leics., in April 1891 the family home was at 5, Baker Street, Bottesford, Leics. In March 1901 Thomas was employed as a domestic gardener and was residing in the family home at 6, Queen Street, Bottesford, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Rowland, Edith S., born 1893 and Constance E., born 1897, the latter two siblings were both born in Bottesford, Leics. In April 1911 Thomas was employed as a livery stable groom and was residing as a servant at the Red Lion Inn, Bottesford, Leics., also employed as a livery stable groom, and residing as a servant at the same address was his brother Rowland. On Friday May 25th 1917 The Melton Mowbray Times & Vale of Belvoir Gazette published the following article under the heading. “LOCAL MEN IN THE CASUALTY LISTS” – The following local casualties were officially reported in Friday’s list:- WOUNDED. LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. Cooper, 112234 Lance Corpl. T. H. (Bottesford).
