He was the son of John Archer a Market Gardener born 1856 in Desford, Leicestershire and his wife Johanna, born 1856 in Croft, Leicestershire. Percival Edwin was a Midland Telegraphist and was born in 1885 in Desford, Leicestershire, his siblings were John, born 1880 in Newent, Gloucestershire, Bertie, born 1882 in Botcheston, Leicestershire and Ethel, born 1887 in Desford, Leicestershire, in March 1901 the family home was at the School House, Desford, Leicestershire. In April 1911 Percival was employed as a Clerk Telegraphist and was residing with his family at Desford Industrial School, Desford, Leicestershire. He was the husband of Esther Archer.
