He was killed on the 26/03/1942 aged 20 whilst serving as a Trainee Pilot with 54 O.T.U (Operational Training Unit).
On the day of his death he was flying a night training sortie in Bristol Blenheim lV R3808 when while attempting an overshoot the aircraft stalled and crashed at 04:00 within the airfield boundary from a height of 100 feet.
