Barton-in-the-Beans Man In River Plate Battle

Mr and Mrs A. Groves, of Yew Tree Cottage, Barton-in-the-Beans, near Ibstock, have received two telegrams stating that their son, Albert, is safe and sound. One was from their son himself and the other from the Admiralty.

Mr Groves was one of the heroes in H.M.S. Ajax which helped put the Graf Spee out of action. He has been in the Royal Navy for three years. His father and mother were very much relieved when they received the telegrams, which ended several days of suspense.
