He was the son of Harker and Annie Mason. The War Diary for today records that the Battalion were in the Front Line, usual routine nothing to note. Major H. Barrington Brown D.S.O. rejoined the Battalion on ceasing to command 9th Suffolk Regiment. Captain H. B. German (R.A.M.C.) attached to Battalion was relieved by Captain N. P. Boulton (R.A.M.C.). Captain H. B. German to duty with 17th Field Artillery. Casualties, other ranks A Company 1 wounded.

Mr and Mrs Mason, of Burton Road, Ashby, have been informed that their son, Lance-Corporal Ronald J. Mason, Leicester Regiment, has been killed in action in France. He enlisted in the early stages of the war. He was 20 years of age. Mr and Mrs Mason have two other sons in the army.
