He was the son of Thomas Chadwick a plate layer, born 1858 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., and his wife Fanny, born 1859 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. Harry was born in 1890 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., his siblings were, Edith, born 1879, John, born 1881 and Charles, born 1886, all his siblings were born in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., in April 1891 the family home was at 4, 39 Court, The Callis, Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. In March 1901 Harry was residing in the family home at 4, 39 Court, The Callis, Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Edith, John and George, born 1894 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. In April 1911 Harry was employed as a wagon builder and was residing in the family home at Court 39 No. 4, The Callis, Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Charles and George. His elder brother Charles also fell in action.

Mr Thos. Chadwick, of The Callis, Ashby, has been officially notified that his son, Pte. Harry Chadwick, Devon Regiment, was killed in action in France on October 26th, 1917. He was formerly reported missing. His brother, Lance-Corporal Chas, Chadwick, was killed on May 3rd, 1917.
