He was the son of George Bull a bricklayer, born 1850 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., and his wife Mary, born 1852 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. Alfred was born in 1888 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., his siblings were, Annie, born 1875, Lizzie, born 1877, George, born 1880, William, born 1882, Mary (Polly), born 1883, Bella, born 1885 and Harry, born 1889, all his siblings were born in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., in April 1891 the family home was at 1, 19 Court, Kings Yard, Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. In March 1901 Alfred was residing in the family home at 23, Upper Church Street, Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., together with his widowed father, and siblings, Mary, Bella and Harry. In April 1911 Alfred was employed as a coal miner and was residing as a boarder at Wood Street, Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. The War Diary for today records. IN THE FIELD. Brigade holding line. 6th Battalion LEICESTERSHIRE REGT. in Reserve in POLYGON WOOD. The following officers and other ranks were reported wounded in action. 2nd Lt. F. G. MOUNTFORD, 2nd Lt. A. F. WATSON, 2nd Lt. A. T. FARMER, 2nd Lt. H. S. WILDIN, 2nd Lt. G. LANE-ROBERTS the two latter remaining at duty.
