He was the son of Samuel Bradbury a farm labourer, born 1855 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., and his wife Emma, (Harriet) born 1859 in Chilcote, Derbys. George was a general labourer and was born in 1883 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., he had one sibling, a sister May, born 1888 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 6, Upper Church Street, Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. In April 1911 George was employed clay filling and was residing in the family home at Church Yard, Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., together with his wife of one year, Mary Elizabeth, born 1886 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. In the July, August, September quarter of 1919 George’s widow Mary married Charles H. Wilson in the Ashby de la Zouch, Leics., registration district, and they resided at 18, Court, Smith Coffee House Yard, Market Street, Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. The War Diary for today records. POLYGON WOOD. The day was fairly quiet. From 5.30 to 7.30pm. heavy shelling. At 8.00pm. “C” and “A” Companies moved up to the front line at REUTEL J.11.c. relieving elements of 9th and 10th KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY and 1st EAST YORKSHIRE REGT. “B” and “D” Companies moved into local support J.11.c. The relief was quiet. One Company 8th LEICESTERSHIRE REGT. and one Company 9th LEICESTERSHIRE REGT. moved into reserve at J.11.c. and came under orders of the 7th LEICESTERSHIRE REGT. 6th LEICESTERSHIRE REGT. were on the left and the CHESHIRE REGT. (5th Division) on the right.

Official information has been received that Private G. Bradbury, 7th Leicesters, has been killed in action (or died of wounds) in France. He leaves a widow and one child, who reside at Ashby.

Mrs Bradbury, of Mill Bank, Ashby, has been officially informed that her husband, Pte. G. Bradbury, Leicesters, has been killed in action. Some weeks ago, he was reported missing.
