He was the son of John H. Billington a Knife Grinder, born 1848 in Leicester and his wife Mary, born 1848 in Leicester. George was a Medical Labeller and was born in 1886 in Leicester, his siblings were John, born 1879, Evelyn D., born 1881, Martha A., born 1883, Mary E., born 1887 and Beatrice G., born 1890, all his siblings were born in Leicester, in March 1901 the family home was at 2, Torrington Avenue, Leicester, in the Ecclesiastical Parish of St. Nicholas. In April 1911 George was employed as a Police Constable and was residing in the family home at Hockley Hill, Birmingham, Warwks., together with his wife of three years Ellen Elizabeth, born 1885 in Wigston, Leics. His widow remarried Charles H. Davenport in the October, November, December quarter of 1918 and they resided at 4, Church Nook, Wigston, Leics.
